Regaleira, Pena and the coast in one day

A guide in a van of eight collects you from your Lisbon hotel and spends ten hours on Sintra, Quinta da Regaleira, Pena's terraces, Colares, Cabo da Roca and Cascais. Pick it for the time at Regaleira: a full 90 minutes, early in the day, with the timed slot booked for you.

Sintra, Regaleira, Cabo da Roca & Cascais Day

About this experience

SPR Tours runs this as a shared day with a hard cap of eight people per vehicle and two vehicles at most per guide. Pickup is at your hotel in central Lisbon, and the drop-off is at Marquês de Pombal or Restauradores. The day opens with 30 minutes in Sintra's old centre, usually with coffee and a travesseiro pastry, then goes straight to Quinta da Regaleira for 90 minutes. That early slot matters: the Initiation Well queue grows through the morning.

Read the small print on the ticket. The Regaleira entry is not in the $91 price. The guide books your timed slot in advance and you pay EUR 21.50 in cash on the day (EUR 16 if you're 65 or over). The official 2026 adult price is EUR 20, and EUR 15 for seniors, so you pay a small premium for the booking. The Pena exterior ticket (park and terraces) is included, the palace rooms are not. Lunch and breakfast are optional: you pay for what you order.

Expect a long day and plenty of walking on slopes and cobbles. The listing says it is not suitable for wheelchairs or anyone with back or heart problems. And like every outside guide, yours can talk you through the gardens and grottoes but may not lead tours inside the palace or the Initiation Well. You go down the well on your own and meet up again below.

  • 90 minutes at Quinta da Regaleira, early in the day
  • Hotel pickup in central Lisbon, at most 8 people per van
  • Pena Palace terraces and park ticket included
  • A 90-minute stop in Colares, below the Sintra hills
  • Cabo da Roca, the drive past Guincho beach and a stop in Cascais

What guests say

★★★★★

The Regaleira tour was my favourite part. Luis was very helpful to show the best spots. He dropped us back close to our accommodation also.

Tiago handled our tickets into both places. I'm really happy we chose this way to travel to Sintra, since tickets are timed and on a busy day there is a chance they could be sold out. [...] For those who aren't mobile, this isn't the trip for you.

Honestly, the rain made Quinta da Regaleira even more interesting as it added colors to the walls and the wind on Cape Roca was so crazy my kids loved it.

Visiting these sites can be chaotic because of their popularity, especially in the summer, but this tour made it easy to navigate everything and cover all the highlights without the stress.

Tips before you book

  • Bring euros in cash for the Regaleira entry. The guide reserves your slot ahead and collects the money on the day.
  • Pack a windproof layer and a rain jacket. The listing warns it gets windy and cold at Cabo da Roca, and that it can rain in Sintra even in summer.
  • The tour needs at least 4 participants. If it doesn't reach that, the operator offers a new date or a full refund.
  • Your guide may switch between two languages during the day. Ask at booking if one language matters to you.
  • If storms or fire risk close Pena or Regaleira, the day goes ahead with the Sintra National Palace and the Palace of Queluz instead.

How long do you get at Quinta da Regaleira?
