Both palaces in half a day

A group of eight at most leaves Avenida da Liberdade for Pena's terraces, Sintra village and 90 minutes at Quinta da Regaleira, and is back in Lisbon five and a half hours later. Pick it if you want the two famous sites without the coast, and a free afternoon in the city.

Half-Day Pena & Regaleira from Lisbon

About this experience

This is the short version of a Sintra day. You meet on Avenida da Liberdade by the Hard Rock Cafe, ride out in a van of up to eight, and spend 90 minutes on Pena's terraces, 45 minutes in the village and 90 minutes at Quinta da Regaleira. No Cabo da Roca, no Cascais.

The tickets are not in the $90 price. The operator buys them in advance to guarantee your entry, and you pay them back in cash on the day: EUR 20 for Regaleira, the official 2026 adult price, and EUR 10 for Pena's terraces. The terraces ticket covers the palace's outside walls and views, not the rooms. Snacks are included, and guests mention local pastries handed round on the way.

The guide walks you through Regaleira's gardens, grottoes and tunnels, but the estate's rules keep outside guides out of the palace and the Initiation Well. Both sites involve steep uphill walking, and the listing is frank that it doesn't suit anyone with limited mobility. Tours can run in two languages.

What guests say

★★★★★

She gave us enough context and history to make both Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira much more meaningful, and Regaleira especially ended up being the highlight of my day.

A half day in Sintra was perfect. [...] The other important things - no lines! Lots of walking but done in a way that wasn't exhausting.

Our tour group was just seven of us and he was so attentive and so full of information, stories, enthusiasm, and personal experiences, it kept our interest all six hours of our tour!

Andrea is a very knowledgeable and personable tour guide. The palaces, the town and the initiation well were all amazing places to visit.

Tips before you book

  • Bring EUR 30 per person in cash for the two entries.
  • Wait at door 12 on the main avenue, not on the small street going downhill. The operator asks for this to avoid the busy entrance.
  • Sintra is often rainy, foggy or colder than Lisbon early in the day. Check the Sintra forecast, not Lisbon's.
  • Guests report the trip running closer to six hours than five and a half. Don't book anything tight for straight after.

At Av. da Liberdade 12 in Lisbon, in the building next to the Hard Rock Cafe, by the Chaumet store. The tour also ends there.
