Booking choice: The all-tickets-included tour, from $136 per person. Check dates Tour details
We read every listing on this site line by line: inclusions, exclusions, itinerary stops and options. The pattern is clear. "Regaleira" in a tour title tells you where the van goes, not what the price covers.
Prices are the USD from-prices on Viator, checked in October 2026. Official ticket prices are from regaleira.pt.
The quick answer
Only two of the eleven tours on this site include the Regaleira ticket: the all-tickets-included tour ($136) and the private half day ($111). Most others reserve it and take EUR 20 to EUR 21.50 in cash, one makes it an upgrade, one asks you to buy the slot yourself. Expect 60 to 100 minutes inside on a tour, and no guide inside the palace or the well.
Which Sintra tours include the Regaleira ticket?
On this site, two: the all-tickets-included tour and the private Regaleira half day. Everything else adds the ticket on the day or leaves it to you.
The all-tickets-included tour covers Pena (with a guided visit inside the palace) and Regaleira in $136, in a group of eight from Praça da Figueira. The private half day picks you up at your Lisbon hotel and includes the ticket and two hours inside, from $111 per person in a larger group.
Everywhere else, read the exclusions. That is where the EUR 20 hides.

No cash on the day and no slot to book: both palace tickets are in the price, with an hour at Regaleira on your own.

Ticket included on two, cash to the guide on three, an upgrade or a ticket option on two, buy-it-yourself on two, and outside only on one.
Every tour, what it does at Regaleira and what you pay for entry:
| Tour | From | Time at Regaleira | Regaleira ticket |
|---|---|---|---|
| All tickets included | $136 | About 1 hour, on your own | Included |
| Private Regaleira half day | $111 | 2 hours | Included |
| Sintra, Regaleira and coast day | $91 | 90 minutes | Cash: EUR 21.50 (EUR 16 for 65+) |
| Half day from Sintra | $74 | 90 minutes, tour ends there | Cash: EUR 20 |
| Half day from Lisbon | $90 | 90 minutes | Cash: EUR 20 |
| Sintra and Cascais day trip | $56 | 90 minutes, last stop | Upgrade option only |
| Budget Sintra day | $34 | 90 minutes | $34 = transport only; ticket options cost more |
| Small-group Sintra and coast | $62 | 100 minutes | Buy the 11:30 slot yourself |
| Private Sintra day | $176 | 90 minutes | Extra; listing says EUR 25 |
| Sintra tuk-tuk tour | $51 | 15-minute stop outside | None |
| E-bike day | $54 | Your own pace | Buy your own |
Two of the cash prices are above the official EUR 20: EUR 21.50 on one, EUR 25 listed on the private day. The extra is the operator's, not the estate's. You can always buy your own ticket at regaleira.byblueticket.pt and tell the guide.
What does a "guided visit" of Regaleira really mean?
Commentary from your guide in the gardens. External guides are not allowed to lead tours inside the palace or the Initiation Well.
That rule is on the estate's visiting rules. In practice the guide walks you through the gardens, explains the symbols and the story of Carvalho Monteiro, points you at the well and agrees a meeting time. You do the palace (one way) and the well (descending only) on your own.
None of this is a scam. It is just not what "guided" suggests. On the all-tickets tour the listing is upfront: about an hour at Regaleira, on your own. If the stories matter to you, rent the EUR 5 audio guide at the ticket office, or read our Initiation Well guide on the train.

How long do tours spend inside Regaleira?
Between 60 and 100 minutes, against the two to three hours most independent visitors spend.
From the itineraries: one hour on the all-tickets tour, 90 minutes on most day trips, 100 minutes on the small-group coast day and two hours on the private half day. Take away a queue at the well and a group meeting point, and 90 minutes is enough to see the highlights at a steady pace. It is not enough to get lost, which is half the point of the place.
Two tours give you an easy way out of the clock. The half day from Sintra ends at Regaleira, so you can stay until closing. And on the private day you set the pace with your own driver. More in how long to spend at Regaleira.
The tour that ends inside the estate: 90 minutes with the guide, then stay as long as you like.
Check dates for the half day from SintraWhich Sintra day trips only drive past Regaleira?
Some of the most-reviewed Sintra day trips list Regaleira as a pass-by: you see the wall and towers from the van on the way to Cabo da Roca.
One example, which we don't list here: a small-group tour to Sintra, Pena, Cabo da Roca and Cascais with more than 5,000 reviews puts "Quinta da Regaleira" in its itinerary, but the stop is marked "pass by", on the road to the coast. Nothing in the price gets you through the gate, and there is no time set aside to go in.
The Sintra tuk-tuk tour is honest about the same thing: a 15-minute stop outside, no tickets. That is fine if you only want the outside. Most people who search for Regaleira want the well.

Is paying the guide in cash a problem?
No, if you bring euros in cash. The guide books your slot in advance and you pay them for it on the day.
The half days from Sintra and from Lisbon ask EUR 20 for Regaleira and EUR 10 to EUR 12 for Pena's terraces, in cash. The coast day asks EUR 21.50. Bring the right money in notes and coins; don't count on your guide having change.
The upside of this model is flexibility. The guide holds the slot, the tour keeps free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and you never face the official ticket's no-refund rule yourself. The ticket guide explains that rule.

How do you read a Sintra tour listing?
Check four things: the exclusions, the itinerary stop marked for Regaleira, the options list, and the minutes at the stop.
- Exclusions: "Entrance fee - Quinta da Regaleira" with a euro price means cash on the day.
- The itinerary stop: "Admission ticket not included" means the same. "Pass by" means you stay in the van.
- Options: words like "Transportation only" or "Upgrade to include Regaleira" mean the cheapest price leaves the ticket out.
- Minutes: 60 is tight, 90 is normal, 120 is comfortable.
- Pena: "terraces" or "gardens" means the park ticket, not the rooms inside.
Every tour page on this site spells these out in its key facts box, next to the price.
Which tour should you book for Regaleira?
For no cash and no fuss, the all-tickets tour. For the most time inside, the private half day. On a budget, the train and your own ticket.
- Want both palaces paid up front: all tickets included, $136.
- Regaleira is the priority: the private half day, two hours, ticket included.
- Already staying in Sintra: the half day from Sintra, which ends at Regaleira.
- The coast too: the Sintra, Regaleira and coast day, 90 minutes inside and hotel pickup.
- Lowest cost: the train from Rossio and a ticket from the official shop. See Lisbon to Regaleira.

Two hours inside the estate with the ticket paid: the longest Regaleira visit on any tour here.
