Quinta da Regaleira is run by Fundação Cultursintra, a foundation owned by the Sintra council, and it sells its own tickets. Not Parques de Sintra, which runs Pena and the Moorish Castle. Different owner, different shop, different rules.

The 2026 prices below come from the estate's visitor page and its 2026 fee notice. Tour prices are the USD from-prices on the listings, checked in October 2026.

The quick answer

An adult ticket costs EUR 20 in 2026, youths 6 to 17 and seniors 65+ pay EUR 15, children up to 5 go free and a family of two adults and two youths pays EUR 60. Buy only at regaleira.byblueticket.pt. Tickets carry a half-hour entry slot with one hour of grace, cannot be refunded, and can be moved up to 48 hours before.

How much are Quinta da Regaleira tickets in 2026?

EUR 20 for adults 18 to 64, EUR 15 for youths and seniors, free for children up to 5. The family ticket is EUR 60.

These prices have applied since January 2026 and cover self-guided entry to the gardens, the palace, the chapel and the Initiation Well. There is no separate ticket for the well.

WhoAgePrice 2026
ChildUp to 5Free (ticket issued on site)
Youth6 to 17EUR 15
Adult18 to 64EUR 20
Senior65 and overEUR 15
Visitor with a disability, plus one companionAnyEUR 12 each
Family2 adults + 2 youths (max. 4)EUR 60
Audio guide (rental)AnyEUR 5

The family ticket saves EUR 10 against four single tickets (EUR 20 + EUR 20 + EUR 15 + EUR 15 = EUR 70). With one teenager it saves nothing, so buy singles.

The ticket is in the price: a private car from Lisbon, two hours inside the estate, no slot to hunt for.

Where do you buy official Regaleira tickets?

Online at regaleira.byblueticket.pt, the estate's only official ticket shop. Anything else is a reseller.

The foundation has said so in writing. Its notice on the official ticket office reports "many visitors" arriving with tickets bought on unrelated websites and states that it "is not responsible for any issues related to tickets purchased from other websites".

Resellers often charge more than EUR 20 and their vouchers are not always honoured at the gate. That is why this site does not list the third-party Regaleira entry ticket sold on Viator: its low reviews describe tickets that never arrived and entry times that changed. Buy the ticket at regaleira.byblueticket.pt, then book a tour separately if you want one.

At the gate, the ticket office takes cash, debit and credit cards, but not American Express.

How do the time slots work?

Every ticket names a date and a half-hour entry slot. You may enter up to one hour after it, and once inside you can stay until closing.

The official shop lists 15 slots, every half hour from 10:00 to 17:00. Arrive between your slot time and one hour later: a 14:00 ticket gets you in until 15:00. The last entry is 17:30 all year, so the late slots have less slack than the early ones.

Tickets are personal and single entry. Walk out to have lunch in the village and you cannot come back on the same ticket. The café inside, with a garden terrace, solves that.

Can you cancel or change a Regaleira ticket?

You cannot cancel it. You can reschedule it in the official shop up to 48 hours before your slot.

The rules are blunt: no refund, no exchange, no extended validity. The only refunds are for an unscheduled closure or an order from the authorities. If storms close the estate, you get your money back. If your plans change, you don't.

Compare that with the tours on this site, which all allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before. On tours where you pay the entry in cash on the day, such as the half day from Sintra, the guide reserves the slot and the money only changes hands when you show up.

Do Quinta da Regaleira tickets sell out?

In summer and on weekends the late-morning slots often go days ahead. Outside the high season you can usually buy a day or two before.

Tour vans arrive mid-morning, so 10:30 to 13:00 is the first band to vanish from June to September and around Easter. Afternoons hold out longer, and they are quieter inside anyway (see the best time of day).

Our rule: book your Regaleira slot first, then fit the rest of Sintra around it. Pena sells its palace entry in timed slots too, on a different website, and getting both slots to line up is the real puzzle. Pena or Regaleira has a timetable for doing both.

The palace opens on its main floor only. Upper floors open for temporary exhibitions.

Is the Regaleira audio guide worth EUR 5?

Yes, if you are visiting without a tour. It has 30 listening points across the palace, the chapel and the gardens, and a map comes with it.

It comes in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Russian. You rent it at the ticket office; it cannot be reserved and supply is limited, so a late arrival on a busy day may find none left. The free map you can download from regaleira.pt covers the layout but not the stories, and Regaleira without its stories is a pretty garden with odd towers.

Who gets in free or cheaper?

Children up to 5, Sintra residents and accredited tourism professionals go free. Seniors and youths pay EUR 15, visitors with a disability EUR 12 with a companion.

  • Sintra residents: free with proof of tax residence in the municipality.
  • Tourism professionals: free with credentials.
  • Students: the 2026 table lists no student rate. Students 18 and over pay EUR 20.
  • The Lisboa Card: it covers the train from Rossio to Sintra, not the Regaleira ticket. The estate's own price list shows no card discount, so budget the full EUR 20.

Pay the EUR 20 in cash on the day and let the guide hold the slot: Pena's terraces, the village and 90 minutes at Regaleira.

What do tours add for the Regaleira ticket?

Two tours include it. Most others reserve it and collect EUR 20 to EUR 21.50 in cash, and a few leave it to you.

The headline price of a Sintra tour rarely covers Regaleira. Here is what each tour on this site adds on the day:

TourFromRegaleira ticket
All tickets included$136Included
Private Regaleira half day$111Included
Sintra, Regaleira and coast day$91EUR 21.50 cash (EUR 16 for 65+)
Half day from Sintra$74EUR 20 cash
Half day from Lisbon$90EUR 20 cash
Budget Sintra day$34Not in the $34 seat; ticket options cost more
Sintra and Cascais day trip$56Only with the Regaleira upgrade
Small-group Sintra and coast$62Buy your own 11:30 slot
Private Sintra day$176Extra; the listing says EUR 25

Two prices here sit above the official ones. One operator collects EUR 21.50 for an adult ticket that costs EUR 20, and the private day lists EUR 25. Ask your guide which ticket they buy before you hand over cash. The full breakdown is in Sintra tours that include Regaleira.

No. Pena belongs to Parques de Sintra and Regaleira to Fundação Cultursintra. You need two tickets from two shops.

How long is a Regaleira ticket valid?

For one entry on the date shown, from your slot time to one hour after it. Once you are inside you can stay until closing time.
