West Route Tours · Sintra
A local driver-guide takes your group around Sintra's palaces by tuk-tuk for 90 minutes, with short photo stops at the National Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Biester, the Moorish Castle and Pena. Pick it for the views without the climbs; it stops outside Regaleira and includes no tickets.

This is a ride, not a visit. West Route Tours' tuk-tuks wait on Volta do Duche, next to the Queijadas da Sapa bakery, about four minutes' walk from Sintra station. In 90 minutes your driver-guide stops for about 20 minutes at the National Palace, 15 minutes outside Quinta da Regaleira, 15 at Biester, 20 at the Moorish Castle and 20 at Pena, plus the Fonte de Sintra.
None of it includes a ticket, and the guide doesn't go inside anywhere. At Regaleira you see the palace tower and the gate from the road. If you want to go in, buy your own timed ticket on the official shop and ask to be dropped there at the end: the estate is a short ride from the old town, and guests report drivers happily dropping them at a different spot from the start.
Where it shines is the hills. The road up to Pena and the Moorish Castle is steep and the village lanes are jammed in summer. The tuk-tuks are small, so groups over three are split across vehicles that travel together. Children under 7 can't ride.
Find the tuk-tuks with the West Route Tours logo by the Queijadas da Sapa bakery, or wait at your accommodation if you booked pickup.
A stop at the palace with the two conical chimneys in the village centre.
A photo stop outside the estate. No entry.
A look at the neo-Gothic palace in its park.
Up the mountain road to the castle walls and the Pena gates, then back down to the village.
